macOS 27 Golden Gate users report serious Mission Control bugs

Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate last week, and early adopters have reported bugs ranging from sluggish animations to black screens in Mission Control. Other users say the release runs smoothly, so the problems do not appear universal.

A Reddit megathread highlights Mission Control as the most serious issue. Users describe broken animations and an unresponsive black screen after dragging a desktop to another monitor. One user said the only workaround was to create a new desktop on the black screen, switch to it, and then delete it. Other reports describe Mission Control as “glitchier, laggier, and buggier,” with black screens appearing when switching to full-screen apps.

Some users also report sluggishness in the menu bar and Control Center. Spotlight problems may instead result from system reindexing after installation, according to the report. Some users say macOS 27 is a major improvement over macOS 26 Tahoe once indexing finishes.

TechRadar reports that users who depend on Mission Control are considering waiting for macOS 27.1. The complaints have also renewed questions about Apple's beta testing and feedback process. One user said bugs submitted during testing remained in Golden Gate. Users who stayed on macOS 25 Sequoia because Tahoe was problematic are continuing to hold off upgrading.
