According to a report by Wccftech, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5090 flagship graphics card is now selling for more than $6,000, with prices continuing to rise.
The cheapest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 reportedly sells for more than $6,500 at retail, while some listings go beyond $9,000. The report says Chinese AI firms continue to buy thousands of gaming cards in bulk despite the cost reaching 3x the original level.
NVIDIA launched the RTX 5090 with a US manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,999. However, the card was reportedly difficult to obtain even at that price during its initial availability in Jan-Feb 2025.
More than a year later, Wccftech describes the RTX 5090 as having experienced the biggest price increase among gaming graphics cards. The report attributes the continued demand to Chinese AI firms purchasing gaming cards in large quantities, but it does not provide further details about the firms or their specific use of the hardware.
