The internet’s trust problem is spreading beyond social media feeds filled with AI-generated content. AI-generated text and images are appearing in job applications, product reviews, and insurance claims, prompting platforms and users to look for ways to determine what is real.
Among the startups building tools for this challenge is Pangram. The company recently raised $9 million for its AI detection system and formed a partnership with Substack. Substack is using Pangram’s technology to show readers which of their favorite authors use AI to write their newsletters.
Pangram has also launched a new AI image detection tool. Pangram co-founder and CEO Max Spero discussed the company’s approach and the broader promise of AI detection tools on TechCrunch’s Equity podcast. The conversation also examined where to draw the line between AI assisted and AI generated content.
