TCL’s P80 Ultra is the first phone to combine the company’s Nxtpaper technology with an OLED display. The 6.83-inch panel offers 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 3,200 nits of peak brightness and 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.
Like earlier Nxtpaper phones, the P80 Ultra can switch to Max Ink Mode using a dedicated Nxtpaper Key. The mode changes the display to monochrome with a paperlike appearance, uses a custom Android UI with fewer apps and notifications, and includes software for reading. TCL says the 5,800mAh battery can support up to seven days of active use or 26 days of standby time in this mode.
The phone also includes 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Elite chipset and 45W wired charging. Its cameras include a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide and a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto lens.
The P80 Pro keeps nearly the same specifications but omits the telephoto camera. The standard P80 retains the OLED display but removes the Nxtpaper features and uses a 5,000mAh battery. All three phones run Android 16. The Ultra and Pro receive four years of OS updates and seven years of security support, while the P80 gets one fewer Android version update.
The phones launch in Europe today, with Latin America following in October and the US release coming “a bit later.” Prices start at €549 for the P80 Ultra, €429 for the P80 Pro and €349 for the P80.
