Surfshark Group completes majority acquisition of Optery

Surfshark Group has completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Optery, a US-based personal data removal service. The deal adds Optery as the group’s fifth privacy brand, alongside Incogni, Ironwall, and HeyPolo.

Announced on September 7, 2026, the acquisition’s financial terms were not disclosed. Optery will continue operating independently, with its own teams, products, and technology. There is no bundling or migration planned for now.

Optery finds and removes personal information from data brokers, people-search sites, and search engine results. Surfshark says the service is distinguished by specialized scanning technology, detailed screenshot reporting, and broad US data broker coverage. Optery is currently available only in the US and Canada, although it has indicated plans for international expansion.

Surfshark described the acquisition as a response to growing demand for data control in an AI-driven world. The wider data broker market is expected to exceed $440 billion by 2032.

Optery is Surfshark Group’s second acquisition, following its 2024 purchase of Ironwall. Surfshark also merged with Nord Security, the parent company of NordVPN, in 2022.

The group says the deal will help expand data broker coverage, strengthen its knowledge of search-related removals, and deliver new privacy tools faster. It also expects collaboration between Optery’s US expertise and Incogni’s global scale.
