Amazon, Apple, AMD, Google, Tesla, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and Qualcomm are evaluating Intel’s next-generation 14A process, according to a new investment note from Piper Sandler.
The process does not currently have a definitive anchor customer. However, Piper Sandler has taken a fairly constructive view of Intel’s progress, saying that the technical data points for 14A are trending better than expected.
The reported evaluations come as the technology industry searches for a viable alternative to TSMC. The note presents Intel’s process as part of that broader search, while stopping short of identifying a confirmed customer for 14A.
The report does not say that any of the eight companies has committed to manufacturing products with Intel’s process. Their evaluation therefore indicates interest, rather than a confirmed production agreement.
