Geekom A5 2027 Edition trades performance for quieter operation

TechRadar's review of the Geekom A5 2027 Edition describes a compact mini PC that trades some raw performance for cooler, quieter operation. The review says benchmark results are still to come, so whether that trade suits most buyers remains uncertain.

The system replaces the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, a 45-watt processor, with the AMD Ryzen 7 7730U, a 15-watt chip using Cezanne silicon and Zen 3 cores. Geekom claims its IceBlast 3.0 cooling system can reduce idle noise to 28dB.

The A5 2027 Edition is positioned for 24/7 office and commercial use. Available configurations include the AMD Ryzen 5 7430U and AMD Ryzen 7 7730U, with 16GB of DDR4 memory and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. Memory can be expanded to 64GB.

Storage expansion includes two NVMe SSD positions and a 2.5-inch SATA bay, although the second M.2 slot uses the smaller 2242 format. TechRadar notes that the mini PC lacks expansion options such as OCuLink, USB4 and Thunderbolt.
